About the Whimsicalist, Katie Kearsey
Hi there! My name is Katie and I’m a twenty-something native New Yorker happily living in San Francisco by way of Boston. I graduated from Boston College with degrees in International Studies and French, and quickly embarked on a career in marketing. If I had my way, I’d be traveling the world with my camera slung over my shoulder, ready for endless cultural discoveries and gastronomic undertakings. I’m passionate about food policy — everyone deserves good, clean food — and love to cook.
I launched The Whimsicalist in January 2012 to write about food, travels, and other interesting things going on in my life — and imported a number of posts from my previous blog and time spent living in Paris and pondering post-college life since they seemed to be a good fit. I moved to San Francisco shortly after the launch, and was unable to post regularly while exploring the city and settling into a new job.
Nearly three years later, I started going through some challenging gastrointestinal health issues and was inspired to give The Whimsicalist a major redesign and start writing again with renewed purpose, this time to help others who suffer from similar stomach problems. Much of the content since then has focused on the elimination diet and clean eating, with recipes and shopping lists to make both easier.
